(I just downloaded live writer and I’m obsessed with this Poloroid photo effect)
They are coming. I am having an exciting new feature coming up on the blog that will be focused on cooking but I won’t give you any more details about that just yet.
In the meantime, hold tight. I have been living in a kitchen with only one hot plate, no oven and no window so food blogging doesn’t happen.
And just to let you know I already have 103 food posts!!!
Check out all my recipes here …
or check them out by categories as listed below:
Some of my all time favourite recipes on this blog are:
We’re going to Thailand today!
There will be a lot of great posts while I’m gone so stick around but I won’t be interacting again until Tuesday!
I joined a blog hop! Now I (and you) can hop from blog to blog via the links below!
I originally saw this from the blog Talk 2 The Trees and thought is was an awesome way to discover new blogs!
You can join the blog hop too (if you have a blog that is). The instructions are under these plethera of blog links which I strongly suggest checking out!
You may have noticed that little link I have added to the side of my blog entitled “Featured Blog”. Part of my love of blogging is reading blogs and sometimes, just sometimes, I get really attached to certain blogs and share them with everyone I know in person. So I was thinking, why not share them on my blog too?
A Beautiful Mess is a really creative blog run by Elsie Larson and her team. I don’t remember how I originally found it but I was most likely bumming around the internet and caught off guard by the beautiful thing she like to call a mess. By the way her blog is beautiful just in case you haven’t clicked on the links yet.
The blog has a ton of focus on D.I.Y. which is not my forte although I have been inspired by her projects lately (where the hell is a craft store in France?!!).
Other great aspects that completely inspire me are around the topics of her owning a vintage store, the beautiful clothes she wears and the yummy sweet recipes that are posted! There have been a few posts on blogging which have been wonderfully useful to me as well.
So go check out this blog and I am sure you will become addicted too!
Some great posts from her are:
- 5 Tips for Bloggers
- Red Velvet Lookbook Video/Autumn 2011
- Our Wedding Film
- Summer Love//Daily Outfit
I have a thing for the videos on her site!
Sincerely, Yummy Laura
Today I used my camera completely in manual mode for the first time! Champagne! I think so.
Dammit, I looked and I don’t have any champagne.
Water! I think so.
I am reading this fabulous book about digital photography and it gave me the necessary information and confidence to make this big step. One small step for mankind, one giant leap for me!
Did I mention that tomorrow is book review day? I didn’t!? What was I thinking? P.s. Tomorrow is book review day. I will be reviewing three different books on three different topics and this book that gave me this confidence is one of them. I’m not telling its name though. You will have to come back to find out what it is.
Ok let me explain this process.
I put the ISO in a reasonable setting for outdoors-200.
I set the f-stop to an average size-8.
I let the camera tell me how fast it wanted the shutter speed by reading the dial in the viewfinder and waiting for it to reach 0 (the middle). That ended up being like 1/300th or something like that. I am very precise. Write that down. Remember it forever. Laura=Precise!
My pictures turned out…okay. They really are not the greatest because I didn’t experiement after using those setting as the base to go back to. The book suggests that. I am pretty much a follower of this book now. I blind follower! But I just love it so much!
Why didn’t I experiment? Because I had a purse over one shoulder, an Ipod turned on in both ears and about 1 million people all within 1 inch or so of me.
I’ll have to go without the purse. The Ipod is a non-negotiable. It gets me into the mood. I’m just saying.
Anyways. It is time for me now to quit my blabbering and show you these freaking pictures all ready!!
Acutally, I’ll make you wait…
Just, joking! Hey, where are you going? It was just a joke.
This is where I live. Not in that building but in the city. Ya, like I would ever take a picture of the building I am living in and post it on the big bad web.
Oh, and here is another picture!
I’m curious to see what else the book has to say. Because even though I was using the manual mode, to me, these pictures are just so so.
Anyways, ta-ta for now!
Last night we had the perfect sunset…
It was cloudy out all day but for some reason, right at this moment as the sun was setting, the conditions were perfect for this to happen…
Waiting another 5 minutes would have been to late to capture these photos!
It Feels Good To Be Myself
It feels good to be myself,
To feel how I want to feel,
When I want to feel it.
It feels good to have freedom,
To do what I want to do,
When I want to do it.
I t feels good to have dreams,
It feels good to have values,
It feels good to have standards.
My heart leads the way,
It will settle for nothing less,
I will make up a silly rule,
To live my life by,
But my heart will ignore it,
Because it needs to fly.
It feels good to enjoy what there is to enjoy,
It feels good to suffer what there is to suffer,
It feels good to except life’s pleasures,
It feels good to take on life’s hardships with joy.
It feels good when things are easy,
It feels good when things are hard,
Because when I am challenging myself I feel even better,
And can be myself even more.
