A French Brunch

The morning after Versailles I woke up in a beautiful house of friends of Max’s parents. Even better…a French brunch was being prepared!

Brunch is absolutely my favourite thing about the weekend. Max and I would try to have a brunch at least once a weekend since we started dating but of course it would always be the kind I grew up with. There would be pancakes or French toast, scrambled eggs, coffee, and bacon or sausages if we were lucky (a.k.a. if the budget stretched that far). Even here in France I would prepare this most weekends but never had I tried a French brunch.

It was quite delicious and makes me want to start exploring some other brunch options again…like eggs benedict!! Mmmm.

Our French brunch consisted of muffins, brioche, a cheese plate, raw salmon, a salmon spread to go on bread and a savoury fish tarte. Completely different than what I’m used to but still so yum!

Oh, and let’s not forget the wine…What is the most unique dish you have ever had at a brunch?

I have never had brunch here in France! I didn’t even know people did brunch here. But now I’m totally inspire and I think I’d like to throw a brunch for friends – with lots of Rosé and pamplemousse! :)

@Sara…do it! And make it extra French!

  3. Sounds like quite the yummy brunch! Sometimes I go to a Beligian restaurant for brunch and I have croissants, Florentine or Jambon Eggs Benedict or Croque Monsieur or Madame. Oh also my most favorite thing about this brunch is the stoemp which is a pureed potato or root veggie dish. It’s delish! Now you have me quite hungry :)

Have a great weekend, Laura! xoxo

  4. Yum– looks delicious! I haven’t had brunch in a long time, even though I really enjoy it!

    Beautiful photos :)

  6. We always skip breakfast in favor for sleep, so we have all the time brunch. Except when my husband and I are traveling – then we have early breakfast, so we get to visit more during the day.

  7. Laura says:

@Dawn…mmmm, I would love to try the stoemp!

  8. Laura says:

@Laura…ya, an earlier lighter breakfast happens when we travel too!

  9. How dreamy to wake up to such a beautiful spread! Brunch is my absolute favorite meal, though I’m pretty sure we’ve discussed that before. :) Tomorrow I’m going to brunch at a friend’s home, and I can’t wait! There’s nothing more special than a meal made with love!
